Rounders (New Game)

The Concept

The idea for this game is to simulate making a living playing poker. Rather than competing against each other in a competition, your goal will be to make enough money each month to support yourself and pay your cost of living.

This is a play money poker game, and all rewards will be in the form of trophies or promotional items of some kind. This way it remains completely legal. People also won’t be worried about money, and it will be more fun and sociable.

Will start the game with two cost of living objectives

  1. $4,000 a month (Roughly 50k a year)
  2. $8,000 a month (Roughly 100k a year)
  • Your goal will be to pay your bills at one of those levels a month.
  • No paying months in advance.
  • If you have Bankroll saved up though. You can use that to pay for a month you haven’t even played a day in. This way if you are trying to keep a streak going and need to miss some time, there is still a way to keep the streak alive.
  • Cost of living gets deducted from your total bankroll at the end of the month.
  • You don’t have to pay cost of living in a month if you are choosing just to build your bankroll.
  • The goal is to try and support yourself as long as possible. And at the highest level as possible as well.
  • The Hall of Fame will be based on streaks, as well as just total months you have paid certain ranks (doesn’t need to be consecutive).

Rewards

  • There will be a Logo Poker Chip given to you as a trophy for any month you can pay your cost-of-living expenses. It will also have either 4k or 8k to show what level you accomplished.
  • The rest of the rewards will be given out for streaks. Not exactly sure what they will be yet. Perhaps a nicer metal challenge coin or trophy for a streak of 6 months. And was thinking maybe a small plaque or something for a full year. Then would have to figure out what would be next for streaks that continue past that. These are open for discussion. Also open to custom mugs or other promotional items. We’ll figure it out.
  • May do a small 3-month streak reward as well.

The Game

  • Texas Hold ’em or Omaha
  • Table will vote to play Hold ’em, Omaha, Dealer’s Choice between the two, something like switching every time the button goes all the way around the table, or even something like switching every hour.
  • Will always be
  • 5/10 Blinds
  • 1000 Max Buy in
  • (25 Straddle)
  • Table can decide if you want to put any limits or caps on the game.
  • Example: In Omaha, you may want to cap each round of betting at 250.
  • Open to a 1000 buy in tournament as well if that is something the group would like to do on a given day.
  • Always start the night with 1000 chips
  • If your Bankroll is below 1000 but above 0 you will be rounded up to a 1000 for the night and it won’t count as a rebuy.
  • If you start the night at 0, you will be given a 1000 and that will count as your free rebuy.
  • Everyone gets one free rebuy per game night (they don’t carry over).
  • Your first day playing you get a free buy in as well as a free rebuy.
  • Can reload when you are below 500 chips (this may change)
  • A reload counts as your free rebuy if you don’t have a bankroll to draw from.
  • Rebuys cost $1 (real money) after your free rebuy.
  • Paying for rebuys will hopefully help with the integrity of the game and keep people from going all in every hand.
  • Also, this way people can keep playing when they are out of money if they choose to.

Fees

  • Day Fee (Regulars) $5
  • Day Fee (Fill-ins) $2
  • This will pay for trophies, the website, other expenses, as well as my time keeping stats and hosting the game.
  • This is a business idea I am working on. So, trying to get used to and normalize the idea of people paying for the service as well.
  • Rebuys $1
